What is BHRT?
BHRT stands for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. These are hormones that match the molecular structure of the hormones naturally produced by the human body. This allows for smooth absorption and predictable results.
What symptoms can improve with BHRT?
Many patients report improvements in energy, mood, sleep, mental clarity, libido, weight control, and overall vitality. Some also notice better skin quality, faster recovery, and improved emotional balance.
Who is a good candidate for BHRT?
BHRT may be appropriate for individuals who are experiencing persistent fatigue, slow metabolism, sleep problems, mood changes, low libido, difficulty with weight management, decreased strength, brain fog, or symptoms related to age or hormone decline. A consultation and laboratory review will determine if this therapy is suitable for you.
Is BHRT the same as synthetic hormone therapy?
No. Synthetic hormones have a different chemical structure than the hormones made by the human body. BHRT uses hormones with the same molecular structure as natural hormones, which can offer a smoother response for many individuals.
How long does it take to feel results of BHRT?
Most patients begin to notice changes within two to four weeks. Full improvements are often seen within three to six months as levels stabilize and the body adjusts.
Is BHRT safe?
BHRT is considered safe when monitored correctly. Your provider follows a structured approach with regular laboratory testing, symptom review, and medication adjustments to maintain effective and safe dosing.
Can BHRT help with weight management?
Hormonal imbalance can affect appetite, insulin response, metabolism, and body composition. Restoring proper hormone balance often makes weight management more achievable. Many patients combine BHRT with peptide or nutritional programs for enhanced results.
Do you treat all genders and identities?
Yes. We provide inclusive and personalized hormone care for all individuals. Treatment plans are tailored to physiology, personal goals, and laboratory results rather than gender labels.
How are medications delivered?
Medications are shipped directly to your home from licensed pharmacies. Delivery is secure, private, and convenient.
Can I start with a consultation only?
Yes. You can schedule a consultation even if you are not sure whether you want to begin treatment. Your provider will review your symptoms, medical history, and the potential benefits of BHRT so that you can make an informed decision.
How do I get started?
Complete our secure intake form to begin the onboarding process. Once submitted, you will receive the remaining intake forms needed to set up your patient chart. After that, you can schedule your consultation.
Do I need laboratory testing before starting BHRT?
Yes. Laboratory testing is required before beginning hormone therapy so that your provider can create a safe and accurate treatment plan that is based on your current levels.
How often are labs required during treatment?
A follow up panel is required six to eight weeks after starting therapy for the first time. After that, laboratory testing is required every six months to continue therapy. Patients can complete additional testing at any time if they want to monitor progress. All laboratory panels are paid by the patient, and financing is available.
Do you accept insurance for BHRT or lab testing?
We do not bill insurance for any of our services. Patients are responsible for the cost of their panels and medications. Most can use HSA/FSA funds or financing options are also available for those who prefer to spread payments over time.
Do I need lab work before starting hormone therapy?
Yes. Hormone optimization requires baseline lab work to ensure safe prescribing and to create an individualized, clinically accurate treatment plan.
Do I need to fast before my blood draw?
Fasting for 8–12 hours is recommended for the most accurate results. Water and prescribed medications are allowed unless otherwise instructed.
How often should I repeat my labs?
For hormone therapy, structured monitoring is required to ensure safe and effective treatment:
- A follow-up lab panel is required 6–8 weeks after starting hormone therapy for the first time.
- After that, labs are required every 6 months to continue therapy and adjust dosing appropriately.
- Patients may choose to complete labs more frequently, but all lab panels—required or optional—are the patient’s financial responsibility.
For peptide and weight-loss therapies, labs are not required unless clinically indicated.
What specific labs are checked before hormone replacement?
We typically run a comprehensive hormone panel alongside standard wellness labs, which may include:
- Hormones: Testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, DHEA, SHBG, LH, FSH
- Thyroid: TSH, Free T3, Free T4
- Metabolic markers: Glucose, A1C, insulin, liver & kidney function, lipid panel
- CBC and micronutrients as needed to assess inflammation, red blood cell health, and nutritional status
These labs give us a full picture of your endocrine and metabolic landscape, allowing us to tailor hormone dosing precisely to you.
Do you accept insurance for lab testing?
We can bill most insurances for laboratory testing through Quest Diagnostics. Please note that we are not responsible for any deductibles, copays, coinsurance, or other out of pocket costs associated with your insurance plan. We strongly recommend reviewing your insurance benefits directly with your carrier prior to your appointment to confirm coverage and pricing. Patients are responsible for the cost of their panels, and most can use HSA/FSA funds toward testing. Financing options are also available for those who prefer to spread payments over time.
What if my labs show abnormalities?
Your provider will review all findings and create a personalized plan, which may include hormone optimization, supplementation, lifestyle modifications, or follow-up testing.
Can I add additional tests to my panel?
Yes. We offer a full suite of advanced hormone, metabolic, thyroid, inflammatory, and performance markers. Your provider can help determine which options are best for your goals.
Are the lab results accurate?
All testing is processed through CLIA-certified laboratories to ensure medical-grade accuracy and reliability.
